Program Rankings for Online Colleges

At an online college, you’ll take the same classes to complete your degree program that you’d take at a traditional school; the work will just be completed virtually. Some colleges require you to travel to campus at the start of each semester, while others offer programs 100% online with no travel required. No matter which type of program you choose (and which major makes the most sense for your career goals), you can find some top-ranked programs online. Here are some of the overall best online colleges:

University of Phoenix

One of the most popular online colleges out there is the University of Phoenix. Because it is so well-known, employers consider it a trustworthy place to get your education, even if they doubt other online schools. In addition, because they are so large, you have dozens of program options, as well as a large alumni network that will help you find a job after graduating. The University of Phoenix was a traditional campus college before going online, so you’ll benefit from the experience of the long-term professors teaching there, and you can take classes offline at any of the school’s over 200 campuses if you want an in-person experience.

Nova Southeastern University

OEDb, one of the publications that ranks colleges in the United States, has ranked Nova Southeastern University as the top online school in the country. This college was founded in 1964 and offers classes online, offline, and in combination (with both online and offline opportunities). They have over 75 classes available totally online, including undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and graduate certificate programs, and they’ve been accredited by the Southern Regional Education Board.

Regent University

Another top-ranked college from OEDb is Regent University. This is a Christian-based school is fully accredited and offers a number of classes online in addition to their campus-based programs. Through their online student center, you can complete all of your classwork on your own schedule, from taking tests to reading lessons to submitting papers and other homework assignments. Because this is a religious school, they also offer a number of Bible-based classes, which is not something offered by many of the other online schools available.
